A.D. 1477 CASTRUM ORIOLI: 21st / 22nd, April 2012

Late 15th c. re-enactment at Oriolo Tower (Faenza, Italy, 2012)

Dates for the event to be held at ORIOLO TOWER (location: Oriolo dei Fichi, Emilia-Romagna Region, Italy), situated in the neighbourhood of Faenza and Ravenna, have been finally set on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd, April, 2012, from 10.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Activities will be managed by “Famaleonis” Cultural Association (www.famaleonis.com) in cooperation with Oriolo Tower Association (http://www.torredioriolo.it/) and will take place in a charming setting, comprising a park dominated by a genuine 15th c. tower.
The common aim is bringing visitors into direct contact with history, plunging the whole area in a real and all-involving environment.

The interiors of the tower will be carefully organized to reproduce the different kind of rooms as daily used in late 15th century by garrison soldiers and countrywomen attending upon them.
Visitors will discover the guardroom, the stock room, the fireplace room, the Lord’s room provided with kitchen, the powder magazine with firing points attached and finally the large terrace overlooking the valley, offering a spectacular view of Romagna hills.

There will be guided tours inside the Tower and outside activities.

On Sunday 22nd, from 12.00 am onwards, you’ll find refreshment stands run by the "Rione Bianco" of Faenza, having the chance to enjoy medieval flavours accompanied by a glass of good local wine.

Reservations for meals and guided tours would be greatly appreciated.
